Recent macroeconomic and financial developments
Ethiopia’s economy grew 7.1% in 2022/23, up from 6.4% in 2021/22, led by 7.9% growth in the services sector, which accounts for 40% of GDP. Industry, at 28% of GDP, grew 6.9% and agriculture, at 32% of GDP, grew 6.3%, also supporting growth. Demand-side drivers of growth included private consumption and investment. Although inflation remained high, due to money supply growth and imported inflation, it dropped from 34% in 2021/22 to 29.2% in 2022/23 due to a tightening of monetary policy. The exchange rate depreciated by 5.3% on the official market and 15% on the parallel market, due to slow export growth. The fiscal deficit, including grants, narrowed from 4.2% of GDP in 2021/22 to 3.3% in 2022/23 owing to fiscal consolidation, the peace dividend, and improved tax revenues, which grew by 35.8% in 2022/23 compared with 12.3% in 2021/22. The current account deficit narrowed from 3.9% of GDP in 2021/22 to 3.0% in 2022/23, due to a 60.3% increase in net services and a 5.3% reduction in imports. The financial sector is stable, with nonperforming loans at 3.5% of gross loans and a liquidity ratio of 24.2%, against thresholds of 5% and 15%, respectively. Ongoing reforms to allow foreign investment in the sector will increase competition and innovation.

Emperor Haile Selassie proclaimed a revised constitution in November 1955 of the Ethiopian Empire. The new constitution was intended to improve Ethiopia's international image. While it consolidated the Emperor's absolutist powers it introduced concepts such as the separation of powers and expanded the role of the Ethiopian parliament. It was abrogated in 1974 with the Ethiopian revolution of that year which resulted in the abolition of the monarchy by the Derg.

The 1931 Constitution of Ethiopia was the first modern constitution of the Ethiopian Empire, intended to officially replace the Fetha Nagast, which had been the supreme law since the Middle Ages. It was promulgated in "an impressive ceremony" held 16 July 1931 in the presence of Emperor Haile Selassie, who had long desired to proclaim one for his country. In the preface to his translation of this constitution into English, William Stern writes, "this was the first instance in history where an absolute ruler had sought voluntarily to share sovereign power with the subjects of his realm." This statement, however, is not completely accurate, as the adoption of a constitution was somewhat pressed by international opinion.

Mathias was not, is not and will not be an apostle of Our Lord Jesus Christ. If we look at the story of Mathias mentioned in the Holy Bible, we can learn that he was chosen to replace Judah Iscariot by lot. His appointment or election was not made by Our Jesus Christ or was simply not divine. There were once famous people called Mathias like Mathias I or Mathias Corvinus, king of Hungary and Croatia from 1458 to 1490 who was pagan and Catholic but not christian. We can also find Bob Mathias or Robert Bruce Mathias (November 17, 1930 – September 2, 2006) who was an American decathlete, double Olympic gold medalist in this event, officer of the United States Marine Corps, actor and member of Congress American representing the state of California for four terms from 1967 to 1975. The current patriarch of the so-called “Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church or Synod” is called Abune Mathias and he is also a Pagan Amalgam and a Catholic but not a Christian. PEACE.
